2 Months!

Katelyn was two months old as of yesterday! Yesterday was also my first day back at work. Of course it was a crazy day at work, so I hardly had time to pump, much less call to check on her, but i knew she was in good hands with my mom having her, so that gave me even more of a peace about going back to work for a day. I will say, it was nice to get out of the house for 8 hours and have interaction with adults, but it was also wonderful to get home and hold my little one close!

Katelyn is now about 24 inches long and an estimate of 13 lbs now. We dont go back to the doctor for a few weeks, so i am doing my own estimations with her, but believe me she is a healthy girl still. David's mom found his baby book and David was about the same weight at 2 months as Katelyn, so she is following in her daddy's footsteps!

Here are her milestones at 2 months:

She is wearing size 1 diapers still.

3 to 3-6 months clothing.

She is smiling at you alot now and coos at you.

She knows her mommy and daddy's voices and turns towards our voices.

She grasps at things and holds on to them.

She has started reaching for people and things too.

She has upgraded to big girl pacies now instead of the soothies.

She is doing a great job at holding up her head, wont be too much longer still she has total control.

She has already been to the beach two times and is going again this week, so we are making her a beach bum!

She loves her bath time, doesnt matter how upset she gets, you put her in her bath and she loves it and then cries again when you take her out!

Katelyn and her big girl pacies!

Daddy trying to get me to love racing and Richard Petty as much as he does! 43!

Katelyn with Rush, her big pink bear from Uncle Wes, " I am getting closer to being able to hold him instead of him holding me!"

"Tummy time, sometimes i just need a rest!"

Daddy making fun of how I sleep.

" Yum, this hand tastes good!"

" This is the life, looking at the beach from this view!"

Slept through the NIGHT!!

I had to mark this huge moment for Katelyn and myself, that Katelyn slept through the night. 830-630, 10 hours! When she did wake up though, those lips were just a smacking away, she was starving! Then since she ate so much and worked so hard on that, she is back asleep on top of me as I type this up.

I did wake up at 430 because i either needed to pump or feed her and I was shocked to see that Katelyn was still sleeping away on the video screen. I did go in just to check on her to make sure she was breathing and she looked so peaceful. Hopefully we can go for 2 in a row tonight, especially because Thurs is my first day back to work and it would be great to go back rested and on a full night sleep! Just wanted to fill everyone in on the exciting news!

8 Weeks

Boy how time flies and how quickly things change! Katelyn is now officially sleeping in her crib at night and for her naps. We put her in her crib for the first time at night last night and she slept 9-3, woke up to eat, then went back to sleep til 7!! David and I had tried putting her in her crib a few weeks ago and she would not have it. Everytime we laid her down when she was asleep, those litte eyes would pop back open and if we left her there, she would start to scream and wouldnt stop until we took her out. So a couple of good friends of mine who also have little ones, said to wait til she was 8 weeks old, that seemed to be the magic number, and it was! Thanks Shannon and Jess, yall are so smart!

Here are some more recent pics of my big girl!

Sleeping in my Big Girl Crib!

Katelyn has now slept in her crib the past two days during her nap time. Today she has been up there for over 3 hours and she is still sleeping! Her room is upstairs and David and I are downstairs, so we have just started putting her in her crib preparing her to be up there at night as well. We may try tonight as her first night in her big girl bed instead of the pack n play beside us. She is starting to feed less at night, so hopefully she will only wake up once during the night now. Just wanted to let everyone know this BIG milestone for us, that our little girl is growing up! Here are some pics of my angel sleeping so soundly! I have been able to get so much done today, it has been great!

Jess and Eli's Visit to NC

Jess, my roommate from college, and her youngest boy, Eli, came for a long weekend from Texas to meet Katelyn and hang out at the beach! Eli is 3 1/2 months old and Katelyn is now 7 weeks, so for Jess and I to be able to catch up some, my mom, david's mom and then my dad came down to help out with the little ones, which was wonderful and such a huge help, but I actually think the grandparents had just as much fun as jess and I did.

We picked up Eli and Jess from the airport and headed down to Atlantic Beach, the kiddos cried a good portion of the car ride, until of course right when we were going to cross over the bridge, they both gave up and were asleep! The rest of the weekend Jess and I hung out on the beach, watched movies, and went to dinner, just like the old days. We also had several photo shoots with the kids and they did great! They even sported their ECU Pirates shirts, maybe some future alumni! It was a great time to catch up, but as we both said, boy how the conversations have changed with both of us being moms. We decided too that this needs to be an annual trip so we can watch the kids grow up together, but next year Eli's big brother Caleb needs to join!

We unfortunatley had to take Eli and Jess back to the airport on Monday night and the kids this time slept the whole time, which was so nice and a great way to end the time together. Here are some pics from the weekend.

My New Favorite Thing

The swing has become Katelyn's new favorite toy and sleeping place. David and I are very excited it is not our arms anymore, but do wish she would sleep during the day in her crib or pack n play, but she wakes up shortly after we lay her down there. We will continue to work on this, but for now the swing is our saving grace. She usually would like to swing for a few minutes, but now she stays in there longer and usually falls asleep. To say this least it has been a nice weekend of getting things done!

One Healthy Girl!

Well to say the least as the pediatrician said today, " You have one healthy girl!" Katelyn went for her 1 month check up, which is really like a 6 week checkup because tomorrow she will be 6 weeks. She weighed 11lbs 11 1/2oz and was 23 inches long! She is in the 95th percentile! As i have said before she is a good eater!

She wears 3 months clothes, but soon, will be moving up i am sure.

Size 1 diapers still.

She is smiling some and starting to "talk".

She today for the first time has found her toes and grabs at them and a few days ago starting chewing on her hands.

She still sleeps 2-3 hours at night, would love for it to be more, but havent had too many nights of that.

She loves to go outside, just wish it was cooler, so we could go out more.

She has wonderful head and neck support and does really well on her tummy.

It is amazing how fast they grow up, so we are trying to enjoy every minute of her.
Here is a picture of her from today, fast asleep after going to the doctor and getting a shot, she did not like that one bit and let everyone know it. For me, that was not fun to watch or hear her cry like that at all. I told David he gets to go with me the next time because she will have to get more than 1 shot then.

Beach Vacation

Also during the last two weeks we went to Atlantic Beach for our vacation week. During this time too Katelyn turned 1 month old! Time sure goes by quickly. I will give an update on her height and weight and what she is up to these days after this Friday when we go back to the doctor. As you can tell from her pics we laid her in the sand for her 1 month pics, right afterwards I had to rush her up to bathe her so she didnt get sand in her eyes or mouth, but the pics turned out good!

The week was wonderful and relaxing for David and myself with extra hands to help take care of Katelyn and let us go out on the beach and sleep in late. Thanks to all the grandparents, but i am not sure who enjoyed the time more the grandparents, being able to spend so much with Katelyn, or us! We couldnt take Katelyn out too much on the beach because it was so hot, so we usually went late evening, but she sure did enjoy going out on the deck and napping with an ocean breeze on her face. Katelyn also slept through her first fireworks, but she still enjoyed her first 4th of July at the beach. Below are pics from fun at the beach!

To say the least we had a great time and can't wait to go back next year when Katelyn can actually enjoy the beach herself!

The Past 2 Weeks!

The past two weeks have been full of events so i will try to remember everything and post lots of pictures for all to see.

First off was David's first Father's Day, which was nice and relaxing. Katelyn and I woke up and cooked him breakfast and David opened his presents from us. Then we went to church for the first time with Katelyn. We sat up in the balcony and Katelyn slept through the singing, then when the minister started she was wide awake and not too long after she was fussy, so we headed back home and enjoyed a nice day of just the 3 of us around the house!

The next weekend was Connor's ( my nephew) 2nd birthday, so Katelyn enjoyed her first birthday party, but she slept through most of it. Connor didn't quite know what to do with all his presents, so daddy had to help him open them. Connor really enjoyed having all his cousins there!

On Sunday, we had Katelyn baptized at David's mom's church in Rocky Mount. As you can tell from the pictures, Katelyn is one special baby. She had so many friends and family come to support her and us as we thank God for her and dedicate her to HIM.
