Valentine's 2012

We had a full filled Valentine's Day! First thing in the morning we gave the girls their "cupid" presents and presents from us. Haley enjoyed her new paci's and paci clips and Katelyn has enjoyed all her goodies, but especially "Lady and the Tramp" or doggie movie as she calls it!
The girls and I then headed over to Maggie's house, so Caleb and Katelyn could make their Valentine banners,(which i showed in the pinterest blog). The kids painted about 3 of them, then Maggie and I completed the rest, while the babies napped. They turned out really cute and ours is hanging in our kitchen.
After Maggie's we headed to Gigi's work, so we could give Gigi her present. Of course upon arrival, Katelyn heads straight to the candy jar! We turned Gigi's office floor into the play place for awhile when everyone opened their presents! Katelyn opened a Snow White dress up dress, so cute!
After a yummy lunch, everyone fell asleep in the car on the way home and this was mommy's Valentine's present! haha! Daddy come home soon after and we opened sweet cards from him to each of us and mommy received flowers! Thanks hun! We had a great Valentine's!

Pinterest

I have recently discovered the best thing! PINTEREST! There are so many ideas, recipes, and crafts out there! It is addicting, worse than facebook for me now, because I actually feel like this is useful stuff I can do and use. Here are some of my creations I have done recently.

I painted a "K" purple then I am going to add ribbon, to be Katelyn's new bow holder!

Maggie actually found this idea for Valentine's. The kids painted this banner for their daddies!

This was David and the grandparents Valentine's Present. Let me tell you how hard it is the get a 5 month old to stretch out her hand! With their handprints it is supposed to make a heart.

I melted old broken crayons and baked them in a heart mold, then once they dried they were crayon hearts for Katelyn's classmates!

I have also used 3 crockpot recipes i have found and they were all delicious and very easy to do! Hope to find more great ideas soon!

Kids say the darnest things!

Today we were on the way to bible study and we passed one of our neighbors on the road. This is the conversation that happened next.

ME: "katelyn, there goes Mr. Tom."

Katelyn: "Where is Mr. Tom going, Mommy?"

Me: "He is going to work."

Katelyn: "Why, Mommy?"

Me: "He needs to go to work to make money."

Katelyn: "Why mommy?"

Me: " to have money to provide for baby Maggie ( they have a new baby) Just like daddy does."

Katelyn: "Mommy, no, no, Mr. Tom doesnt make my money, Daddy makes MY money!"

( she said it so matter of factly, i died laughing and of course had to call David to tell him that he makes HER money!)

Rice Cereal

We have started trying rice cereal with Haley. Most people say that feeding rice cereal wont let them sleep through the night, but all I am asking is maybe it will prevent one time of her many times waking up during the night! So far that hasnt worked either because the child doesnt really like rice cereal, can we say picky! She doesnt want a bottle, doesnt want to sleep, and doesnt like rice cereal! Oh boy! Here are some pics of the first time giving her rice cereal. After a few tries and adding a little bit of applesauce she has started to take a few bites of it, so we will see.

Bird Sanctuary

There is a bird santuary in Scotland Neck, NC, which is outside Rocky Mount, and where all my mom's family is from. We were going to my grandmother's farm anyways to let the kids play and just check on the place, so we decided to stop and see the birds. It was an amazing place! Connor and Katelyn had a blast and they even got to see a baby duck hatch! There were all kinds of birds from ducks, to flamingos, and even a tucan! I plan on taking the kids back soon when it warms up again. If anyone wants to go with us let me know! It is included in your membership if you are a member of the zoo and acquarium, so you get in free! There is a really neat picnic and play area too!

5 Months

Another month has gone by so quickly! Haley is getting more active all the time and maybe we are turning a corner on sleeping a little bit more, but she is still stubborn about taking a bottle. Please pray she will start to take a bottle soon, because in a few weeks I will start working a few days a month and she will have no other choice!

Haley started this month in the nursery at Bible Study Fellowship, she is talking too much to be in class with me anymore. She has done really well in there and the teachers just love her! She also made her first trip down to my grandmmother's farm, roughing it! haha!

STATS

Weight: 14 lbs

Height: 25 1/2 inches

Head: 16

Diapers: Size 2

Shoes: Size 1 ( tiny feet)

Clothes: 6 months

Feeding: She eats every 2 1/2 to 3 hrs during day. Maybe takes around 3 to 4oz each feeding. Then eats at least once, but mostly twice still during the night. We have attempted rice cereal and she is so not a fan.

Sleep: She has been going 6 hrs straight then wakes up again 3 hrs later. So her normal routine is go to sleep around 7, I give her a "dream feed" around 9 or so before I go to bed, then she wakes up around 3 or 330, then sleeps til 630 or so. These are the good nights.

Activity: This month has been the biggest change. She can move things from one hand to another, then of course to the mouth. She can pick bigger objects up and then go straight to the mouth. Loves to play in exersaucer and jump jump and boy can she jump! She has some strong legs! Just recently she has started to roll over and now is trying to pull those knees under her, so i would not be surprised if she is up on all fours by 6 months.

Teeth: none to be seen, but she can drool and chew on everything!

Katelyn is still great with her, but now we are really having to watch what Katelyn is playing with or maybe share with Haley because all is going to her mouth. We are also starting to try to teach Katelyn about these small toys and she needs to keep them away from Haley. At times though katelyn likes to test the water with when Haley is napping or feeding. She likes to be loud at these times, especially because she doesnt take naps that often anymore, it can be a challenge.

She can pull it all by herself and play the music!

Daddy/Daughter Date Night 2012

I love everything about Chick fil A, but Daddy/Daughter Night goes beyond all anticipation! I am writing this from what David and Katelyn told me about it, it sounded like so much fun!
Katelyn was so excited ( so was David) to go to Chick fila for dinner with Daddy, but when they arrived it was different than she was used to. There were black table cloths on the tables with a floating candle on each one, a printed menu to order from, and a waiter to take their order! There was a hostess that sat them at their special table. Then a waiter took their order from the menu that was at their table. Also there a violinist that went around and played music during their dinner. Their food was brought out in order with appetizer first and of course dessert last. The food was also put on plates and they were served. Dessert of ice cream of course was last. The Chick fil a cow was there too all dressed up as a princess, Katelyn enjoyed watching her from a distance! Lastly before they left Katelyn was given a pink carnation to take home with her! To say it was a memorable experience is putting it mildly. Cant wait to til next year when David gets to take both girls!

Katelyn not so sure of that cow

David said Katelyn got very excited when she saw the cow, but only from a distance!

A very special night for them both! Katelyn is still hyped up today after her fun last night!
