2009 in Review

What a year it has been!! Of course the biggest thing for us was the birth of Katelyn in May! But I also had so many friends that had babies this year and all of them were boys! Congrats to Shannon, Jess, Maggie, Leigh Ann ( my cousin who had the only girl besides me), Kelli, Mary Kathryn, Erin, and Emily on all your precious boys! Congrats too to my brother and now sister in law on their marriage in May! It has been a wonderful year and we look forward to the next decade and 2010! Here are some pics of 2009!

7 Months

7 months old! Katelyn continues to amaze us daily with all the new things she begins to do and becomes more and more fun each day!

According to my calculations, she is about 18 1/2 lbs and 27 1/2 inches.

Wearing 9-12 month clothing.

Size 3 diapers.

She is sitting up all by herself, grabbing at everything, and can stay standing if holding on to something. I dont think it will be long til she is pulling up.

Still no teeth, but i know they will be coming soon because she is chewing on everything!

She is babbling up a storm.

She loves to eat, there is not a fruit or vegetable she doesnt like yet and we have tried alot. She has also started picking up little cheerios or puffs and putting them in her mouth herself!

I still think her favorite things to play with though are my cell phone, the remote, and my computer, she loves her toys too, but she gets upset when she cant have our things.

She continues to sleep through the night, which is awesome! 7pm-6 or 630. She takes two naps a day still.

She is simply a happy baby no matter where we drag her or what we do, she is happy to go along and makes the best of it!

Day After Christmas!

Oh the festivites continued, but not as dramatic as Christmas Day. For lunch we went to my great Aunt's house, it has always been tradition to go to her house the day after and have fried chicken, so of course we had fried chicken and it was as good as always! We also always get a wonderful assortment of desserts which includes gingerbread men for the kids, that is always my favorite part! I feel bad we forgot the camera, but it was alot of fun and thanks so much Luta for Katelyn's toy, she loves it!

That night we had David's godparents over for dinner at Lyn's house and David's parents and the Collier's have been best friends since high school. It is an awesome friendship and we can only hope to have friends like them when we get older. But on another note, Jerry, is the funniest man i know and such a prankster, so you have to be careful when you open presents. Katelyn's first present she opened, has a story behind it. David's dad, Grady, gave Jerry's daughter when she was little a fireman's hat, that Jerry had given David and Wes, that had the loudest siren on it, so i was told, so to return the favor, he found a toy with a pretty loud siren on it for Katelyn. Then there is the stuffed animal snake Katelyn was given, he also had given one to Wes and David when they were little, me and snakes dont get along, not even a stuffed one. The picture of her with the snake still gives me goose bumps! Jerry, if you read this, thank you so much! You just wait until you have grandchildren!!!!

As you can tell we have a great time together and David received a few joke presents as well, but I can't really post those, so lets just say we all got a good laugh at them! Thanks so much Jerry and Trudy for such a great night!

Christmas Day

PART 1

We awoke at my parents house to Santa's arrival with David, mine and Katelyn's stockings full of goodies and Katelyn had a present to open. I think she had more fun with the box than the actual present. Santa figured she would have plenty of wants in the years to come, so this year was small from Santa. Thanks mom and dad for all our goodies and Katelyn's new anywhere chair, cant wait to put it together and when we do I will post some pics!

PART 2

After seeing all that Santa brought, we headed to Rocky Mount to have Christmas brunch with David's mom, brother, aunt, uncles, and cousins. Here is where the toys fair began! The first present she opened was a soccer ball and as you can tell from the picture, Summer knew what it was too, and thought it was hers, so we have had to hide it when she is around. Her other favorite gift was the toy that she is chewing on! Then she loves to stand up, so she enjoys the toy she can stand and play with. Then there is a picture of she and her uncle Wes! Thanks for all her toys, she loves them all.

PART 3

After brunch, we headed over to have lunch at my grandmother's house, so Katelyn's great grandmother's. Here both my brothers, their wives and kids, my parents, and uncle all celebrated a wonderful lunch and gifts. Katelyn got her silver spoon and fork with her initials on it from her great grandmother! Here is a picture too of her sporting her " first Christmas" bib!

PART 4

Yes, we are still going on, Katelyn napped for a little while in the car while we headed out to the country to have a mid afternoon meal with David's dad's side of the family. David loves his great aunt's creamed corn, butter beans, and cherry supreme pie! He ate up, but poor Katelyn had had enough and wasnt having it, so after saying hey to everyone, Katelyn, myself, and Lyn ( my mother in law) headed back to her house to let Katelyn try to nap some more, because yes, there is a part 5 to come, but Katelyn never did nap again, but she did get in a better mood. She was only fussy for a little bit and then was ready for part 5 fun with more toys and presents!

PART 5

This was our final place for the day and where we would be spending the night which was at David's mom's house. The presents here go on for awhile. This year Wes' girlfriend Heather and David's grandmother joined in on the fun, his grandmother got a new lap top for Christmas from all her kids! She was so excited!!! Thanks again Lyn for all our wonderful presents, we cant wait for the rest of them to come up here, our car couldnt fit everything!

You may think we are crazy to do all that we did, but it is worth it when we are so blessed to be able to spend Christmas with our grandparents ( Katelyn's great grandparents) and the rest of our families. Hope each of you had as Merry of a Christmas as we did! Thank you God for sending your Son, our Savior, to save us all and may we all remember the true meaning of Christmas!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve Day started with Katelyn playing with herself in the mirror, and having so much fun doing it! This is her new favorite thing to do is look at herself in the mirror. She also enjoyed swinging in the swing all bundled up!

We did Christmas Eve lunch with Uncle John and Aunt Jennifer and cousin Connor and Trey and Grandma Jo and Granddaddy. Katelyn enjoyed opening presents or watching everyone open presents. Connor had the most fun though helping everyone open presents. He would run around and help each person open their presents get really excited about it for a second, then run to the next person to help them with their presents!

It was a great day with family and enjoying two of the little ones getting all excited in the festivites. Here are some pics from the day!
