3 Months Old

Katelyn is now 3 Months old, where does the time go? She is getting more and more personality every day and is such a joy to be around. She is cooing constantly and can have a conversation with you, which is so much fun, I may not be able to figure out exactly what she is saying, but i know she is happy about whatever she is talking about, because she just smiles at you. Nothing beats that.

We also went for her checkup the other day ( which was really her 2 month, so we are a little behind). She weighed 15lbs 3 oz, which doesnt even register on the charts! Her length was 25 inches, which is the 97%, and her head was 15 1/2 which is 70%, so they are not concerned about her health and growth at all. She did have to get two shots, and she did fine with those, and mommy did even better this time( i didnt tear up).

Her latest things:

She is wearing size 2 diapers now.

Clothes 3-6 months.

Usually takes 2 1hr naps and one long 2-3 hr nap daily.

She usually sleeps through the night with the times of 8-4 or 5am, then goes back down til 7:30-8, which is great for me.

She knows David and my voice very well and watches everywhere we go and just smiles when she sees us, which just makes you melt to see it.

She is holding her head on her own and now playing in her exersaucer and bumbo.

She is a moving girl, loves to move those arms and legs and can sometimes tilt herself to a side, but it may take awhile to get all 15lbs rolled over.

She still loves her hands and sucks on those now to soothe herself to sleep, she isnt perfect at falling asleep on her own, but we are getting there.

Hippo Pool

I found this pool for Katelyn and thought it was so cute and just the right size for her. She loves her bath time in the water, so we figured we would see how she liked her own little pool. I think the water was still a little cold for her, but she didnt fuss and loved looking at the sun reflecting off the water. She sat in her bumbo for a while in the water and kinda floated around and looked all around. I think she enjoyed it!

12 Weeks

Hard to believe 12 weeks has gone by since we brought Katelyn into this world! These weeks have flown by and we have enjoyed every minute with her, even ones with her crying or not sleeping much. As the saying goes, " a baby changes everything," which is a true statement, but it is true in the most wonderful way. David and I are so greatful for the blessing of having her in our lives and look forward to watching her grow and change and having the proud chance to be her parents.

This week we go back to the doctor for her 2 month checkup, though she will be 3 months ( the dr. was so busy, we had to wait this long for an appointment), so we will see how much she has grown, which i can tell you is alot.

We are also today taking her to get her 3 month pictures, I will post some of those later on another update!

Bumbo

The bumbo has been Katelyn's new thing to sit in and she is doing a great job at keeping her head up. She enjoys being like everyone else and sitting up. Here are some pics.

Camp Willow Run

For the past few years mom and i have gone back to be the camp nurses for a short week of 3rd-5th grade campers. I went to this camp as a camper for many years, then worked 3 years on staff as a counselor. It is an amazing place that the Lord has blessed so much with an awesome full time staff and each year with amazing counselors to pour into these kids the wonderful news of Jesus. Mom and I enjoy going back to help and mostly we pass out meds to the kids and help with home sickness, because this is the first time most of these kids have left home.

This year Katelyn joined us and she absolutely loved it! She has started to really listen and watch her surroundings and with over 200 kids at camp, she had alot to keep her busy. The kids were great with her too, they enjoyed watching her without touching her.

One of the days, Shannon and her little boy, Owen, were able to join us for awhile before nap times, but since it was so hot, we mostly stayed inside the boxcars where it was filled with A/C! Shannon and i worked on staff together 2 out of the 3 years i was there.

Kristi, who is married to the director of the camp, was my first counselor when i was a camper, so it is always great to go back and see her and her kids, Thad really took a liking to Katelyn being there because he was not the youngest then!



We look forward to going back next year! Katelyn will be able to do so much more!

Beach with the Browns'

Earlier this week we went down to Ocean Isle Beach with David's dad's side of the family and we had a blast! There were over 40 of us staying between 2 houses and to say the least it was crazy, loud, but fun. Katelyn enjoyed meeting new faces and hanging out with her cousins and they loved hanging out with her. The next youngest child there was 7, so Katelyn was the center of attention. She was able to go swimming for the first time with her daddy, the water was a little cool, but she enjoyed it. Then we took her down to the ocean for the first time as well and put her feet in it. It was a great time and cant wait to go back next year!
