2nd Birthday!

Dear Katelyn,

Wow! Where did the year go? You have grown up and changed so much in the past year. You are no longer a baby, but a little girl. You have a wonderful personality, you are extremely laid back, and a go with the flow kid. You love being around people, especially your grandparents, cousin Connor, Summer and Jarrett. I say it is your daily role call asking for each one or asking where they are. You have a wonderful laugh and a beautiful smile that melts our hearts everytime you give us one.

You are so smart too! Your vocabulary has increased tremendously even in the past few weeks and what you understand amazes me. You are truely a blessing to us all and we thank God for you every day. My prayer for you is that you continue to grow beautiful inside and out and be the amazing child God made you to be. I pray too that you will adjust well to all the changes that are coming in your life in the next few months. You will be a wonderful BIG sister to your little sister! Mommy and Daddy love you so much and couldnt be more honored to be your parents! Have a wonderful 2nd birthday our happy child! We look forward to celebrating many more with you!

Katelyn's 2nd Birthday Party

For Katelyn's 2nd birthday party, we did it on the Saturday before her birthday. We kept it the same as last year, but on a smaller scale. Unfortunately, the weather didnt cooperate as much as we would have liked, but we made do with moving everything inside my parents house instead of having the party around the pool. The food was still great and so was all the company. This year I made the cupcakes, vanilla with chocolate icing, and chocolate cupcakes with pink icing! The theme was pink and chocolate, which turned out very cute. The cupcakes were good and Katelyn had 3 herself! Mostly she just ate the icing off. Then it was present opening time. With help from all her cousins, we flew through opening presents! She loved each and every one of them! Her favorites had to be though her pink bike and her helmet. I wasnt sure she would even put the helmet on because she doesnt like to wear hats, but she wanted it on as soon as it was opened. Everyday after that she keeps putting on her helmet even if it is just in the house, thanks great ahma for the helmet and Uncle Wes and Heather for her bike! Thanks to everyone that came, we had a blast, especially Katelyn! It is so hard to believe she is 2 already, but even harder to believe she will have a little sister around next year!

All the cousins having fun in the jump jump before the rain came.

I ate all my hotdog, so lets eat cake!

Cupcakes, i spelled out her name then on the rest of them were 2's.

Present time! Hurry Daddy, open it please!

Everyone helping out! Oh and Katelyn loved her helmet and wore it for days afterwards!

She had a great birthday party. Thanks to everyone who came and for her presents! She loves them all!

2 year old photo shoot

There are many faces to a 2 year old these days. She is happy one minute, mad the next; she is stubborn one moment, then she gives you this grin and you know she is up to something. Those are the faces of Katelyn these days, and she did not let us down during her photo shoot. It amazes me how well these pictures turned out despite the grumpy, arms folded, doesn't want to do a thing we say attitude we were getting from her. But thanks to some bribery with ice cream, candy, going to see Ahmpa, and yes fried okra for lunch, we managed to get some good pictures and a big thanks to Katie who took the pics at portrait innovations in Greenville! So enjoy Katelyn's 2 year old pictures!

Moving Day!

Moving is never a fun thing. Boxes to pack, things to be physically lifted, and the worst of all saying goodbye to good friends and neighbors. We had been blessed for the past 4 years of having wonderful neighbors who were always there when we needed them and most importantly were wonderful to Katelyn and Summer. Our backdoor neighbors were always there to lend a hand or a smile. Ray was Summer's most favorite person in the world, she would wait at the fence for him to come out and bring her dog biscuits and her tail would wag frantically until he came out! Katelyn finally started getting over being shy and would go with Lillian over to their house for cookies and on several occasions they watched her for us. Thanks so much for your friendship and hospitality! We miss you guys so much!

Ray and Lillian came over to give Katelyn an early bday present, baby girl a present, and david and i a beutiful windchime for our new house! They better come and visit us!

Other great neighbors were Millie and Marti and sadly i didnt get a picture before we left, but i did have one with Millie from Halloween. They too were always there to help and Katelyn loved Ms. Millie! We will miss you guys too!

Here are some pics from the house being packed up, thankfully the company paid for someone else to do all this, which was a godsend!

There goes the truck! See you in 3 weeks at the new house!

Playgroup

For the past year, Katelyn and I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved in this playgroup. We started out with 5 kids and we kept growing, but it was always the highlight of our week. Katelyn even started asking for, " Mic, Stella, and Sarah." I felt so bad pulling her away from this great group, but was also sad for myself, cause I really enjoyed it myself. Hopefully we will be able to get involved in a great playgroup here, but nothing will compare to our first group of friends!

For our last playgroup, we also celebrated all the May birthdays, because 4 of the kids had birthdays in May.

As we were leaving, they had a surprise for me, Katelyn, and baby girl. Katelyn received some flowers and a beutiful little pearl bracelet. Baby girl and me got a pink and green diaper cake! It was a wonderful surprise! Yall really didnt have to do that. We will miss all you guys!

Children's Museum

I know, I know, I am way behind again on blogging, so here we go. The week before we closed on our house, I went back to Charlotte early to work my final day, and David and Katelyn stayed behind in Rocky Mount. They had fun with Gigi and went to the children's museum there. Katelyn had so much fun, but of course, David said she enjoyed the water tables the best!

Getting some exercise!

Ok, daddy, i am ready to work in this big yard you got me!

Gigi as a firefighter!

I look forward to taking Katelyn more to this kid's museum!

Happy Mother's Day 2011

After the excitement of Saturday, Mother's Day came with more family fun! My mom had to work part of the day, so we celebrated the night before and in the morning. This was my mom's mom's fountain that was in her yard and my dad was able to get some parts and get it working again. Katelyn loved playing in it and i think mom was just as excited to see it working!
Katelyn showing Ahma how it works!

For lunch we had my dad's side of the family over for lunch. My uncle and dad did most of the cooking and it was delicious! Thanks guys!

Then we headed over for dinner at David's mom. After a great dinner, Uncle Wes and Heather wanted to show what they got Gigi for Mother's Day out on the porch.
