Earthquake and a Hurricane

What a week it has been in Eastern NC. I just wanted to blog about this so I would remember it and show Haley later what she missed out on! haha! On Tues, August 23rd we had an earthquake of 5.9 magnitude. I have personally never been through an earthquake before and hopefully never will again. It was not bad, just strange because you didnt know what was causing all the shaking. Katelyn and I were watching one of her shows on TV, when the tv started to shake and so did all the pictures on the shelves. So i yelled up to David to see what he was doing as he was coming down the stairs, because he wasnt doing anything, it was just shaking he said alot up there. Then we thought it was road contruction because they are paving the road near our house or a helicopter flying over. It must have lasted at least a minute.

Then my mom calls because she gets woken up by it ( she had worked the night before) and was just making sure she wasnt left behind and no cell phones were working. I reassured her we were all here and then dad calls, he had been out to lunch asking if we felt the earthquake. I turned on the tv then and low and behold that is what they said it was. Amazing and so glad it was nothing worse than what is was.

Then if that wasnt enough for one week, then here comes Hurricane Irene to hit our coast and all this with two weeks to go in my pregnancy! We sent Katelyn to be with my parents just in case I went into labor and I did my best to stay on the couch and not too much on friday and thru sat. Saturday was a long day of power coming on and then finally staying off. We were fortunate though that ours came back on around 2am on Sunday morning. David's mom and grandmother are still without power, so they have been staying with us. The winds of course were the highest in our area besides the coast, so there is lots of damage around here, mostly trees, and we lost a few shingles, but again so glad everyone made it through safely. As David said, it is no fun being a home owner during a hurricane, this was our first one and thankfully there was nothing more than lost shingles and almost a tree ( we are trying to save him).

What a week it was with an earthquake and hurricane and being 38 weeks pregnant, now Haley can come whenever she wants!!!

36 week appointment

David and i went back last week for our final ultrasound of Haley. She continues to be in the exact same position as she started, with her face planted in the placenta, so we have no pictures of her or even a profile of her because she just hasn't wanted us to see her i guess. She wants to make this grand entrance into the world and let it be a surprise. The good news is though that my fluid is still adequate around
11. Her growth is great, she is now about 6lbs 8 oz., which is 69th percentile, big girl again! Dr. P and I discussed induction, she was fine with it as long as I was 39 weeks, so Sept 6th is the date unless she comes before. As of last week i was dilated 1-2 and 50% effaced, so we will see what this week brings especially with the threat of a hurricane!

As soon as I take a picture, i will post.

Mostly now with the pregnancy is the fact that most clothes do not fit and sleep is becoming harder and harder to get any. My back and the pressure is way worse than with Katelyn and I have had a few rounds of contractions but after an hour or so they go away. I am now 37 weeks, so any day now would be great Miss Haley!

Pregnant with friends

There is nothing better than having friends being pregnant with you at the same time. It has been wonderful to be pregnant again the second time around with so many people. We ask each other questions and honestly all grow big together! Most importantly is the fact our kids will be close in age and grow up together. I have tried to get pictures with everyone at some point, but two people i havent been able to. Kelli had her little girl at the end of June, when i was 28 weeks pregnant. Then another close friend Emily is pregnant with her little boy and she is due at the end of October. Here are the rest of us!

Shannon ( 9 weeks) and me ( 33 weeks)

Mary Kathryn ( 11 weeks)and me ( 34 weeks)

Jennifer and Me ( both 34 weeks)

Maggie ( 36 weeks) and Me ( 34 weeks)

Allyson (31 weeks) and me (35 weeks)

Leigh Ann (31 weeks) and me ( 36 weeks)

VBS 2011

Katelyn and Connor went to Vacation Bible School this past week at one of my friends churches. To say they had a blast would be putting it mildly. The teachers at first didnt know they were cousins and couldnt believe they would break it down dancing and hold hands going to classes together. So cute! Every morning, katelyn would wake up and say, " Kate, go to school!" She was so excited to go and loved being there. Thanks to Maggie for telling us about it and letting the kids go, they loved it.

Here is Katelyn eating her hot dog dinner on the last night. ( yes she has two bows in her hair, her choice!)

Connor and Katelyn breaking down together.

We love VBS!

All her crafts she made! This one is an angel with her hand prints!

Party for Haley!

Last weekend we had a party to celebrate the upcoming arrival for Haley! We had a small group of friends and family over for a diapers and wipes shower for Haley. Its kinda like a stock the bar party for engaged couples, but this helped stock the closet for Haley's arrival. Thanks to everyone that came and yes we were able to stock the closet!! David and i appreciate you all so much and so thankful for great friends and family. Thanks so much also to Gigi, Ahma, and Ahmpa for throwing a great party with great food. Have to say thanks too to Aunt Cathy and Bill for all their hard work and cooking! It was all delicious!
