updates

Here are some updates from the Brown household!

Katelyn is officially crawling! She started last Friday and will take a few crawls at a time then stop sit up and then decide to go again, but she hasnt tried to go too far yet, which is nice. She actually now tries to pull up and she loves to walk around with you holding her hands. It wont be long til she is taking off!

Another thing Katelyn finally picked up on this past weekend was clapping, now she claps all the time and gives the biggest gring, it is way too cute. I have taken some pics and i will post them later.

So this weekend was a big one for her and since we were back home all the grandparents were able to watch her crawl and clap for the first times, it was great! The other thing she learned this weekend was to catch her first cold, poor thing has been all stopped up monday and tues, but she has been sleeping pretty good. For me though its been more tiring because she has been glued to my hip and we have watched many a baby einstein and praise baby dvds. She loves those and they keep her occupied ( of course she is in my lap while we watch) instead of being fussy. Today she is feeling much better though, so hopefully it was a short cold.

Also wanted to give everyone an update on my grandmother. She went home yesterday after a month in the hospital. But she is still extremely weak and isnt eating well at all, but like she says she is at home. She is having around the clock care because she refused to go to a rehab center or have hospice to help her, she just wanted to go home. These sitters are wonderful ladies though and are so much help! Please continue to pray for her and my mom and uncle who are having to handle all of this.

Lastly, katelyn and i booked our trip to Texas! Katelyn will go on her first airplane in a couple of weeks! I am so excited to go visit my roommate from college at her new house and see all her family! Pray Katelyn does well with flying and we sit beside people who like kids!

Be Mine

For Katelyn's first Valentine's, i found this cute outfit that has 1st Valentine's on the front and Be Mine on the back. She looked way cute in it. I also found a bib and Summer even decided to sport the bib for a little while to get into the spirit of the day!

For this Valentine's, David and I went out on Saturday night in downtown Charlotte, to this awesome Italian restuarant and had a wonderful time and great food. Caprese, Farfelle, Cannoli's and Cheesecake! yum yum!

For the actual Valentine's Day, Katelyn and I received roses from David. Katelyn received a bag of goodies from Gigi and I think she had more fun playing with the tissue paper, than the actual presents.

Of course this year too Valentine's fell on the same day as the Daytona 500, so of course, we stayed in and watched the race, which took up most of the day because of delays in the race.

It was a nice Valentine's Day Weekend and Katelyn can even say she has already gotten roses on Valentine's thanks to her daddy!

Sleeping Beauty

My sleeping beauty in her Valentine's outfit was not ready for a nap so she played and played in her crib, until she finally decided it was time to fall asleep because she was so very tired. But instead of lying down like most beauties do, she decided she wanted to sleep sitting up, and that she did. Mommy, Daddy, and Gigi too laughed at the sight they saw on the video monitor and took pictures of it and Sleeping Beauty continued to bob her head back and forth and sleep so well. Then Mommy and Daddy decided it would be great to have this recorded, so they brought out the video camera and taped Sleeping Beauty sleeping just like her grandpa with her bobbing head, but after a little while sleeping beauty got tired of sleeping upright and decided to just fall face forward to sleep, then there she slept very well. The End.

Prayers for Shoosh

Just wanted to write a little bit about my grandmother, Katelyn's great grandmother, who we call Shoo Shoo. She fell 3 weeks ago and broke 5 ribs and since then things have just gone down hill. She is 84 years old and an amazing woman of God, to whom i have always looked up too and love dearly. She has been in a lot of pain and has pneuomonia now, they have diagnosed her with congestive heart failure, COPD, and now her kidneys are slowly fading and her mental state has day by day just gone. Today she did not recognize my mom and has become very combative. Please pray for the doctors and staff as well. Please just pray for God's Will whether it be to heal her and bring her mental state back to us or for her to go peacefully with dignity to be with the Lord. Here are some pics of she and Katelyn! 8 Months old

Katelyn turned 8 months old on Januaray 30th, sorry i am a little delayed in posting this. She is getting more fun each day and she watches everything you do. She has also started to mimic some of the things you do, so we have to start being careful what we say and do because she is watching!

She is around 18lbs still.

She is wearing 9-12 month clothes.

Size 3 diapers still.

She is trying to crawl and is sliding backwards some and rocking on all 4s.

She can pull herself into a sitting position from being on her belly. We have had to lower the crib now and just today i looked into the video monitor to see my beautiful daughter's face looking right at me! She has found the monitor!

She is babbling, mama and dada, and a couple of times i know she has said bye.

She has started to wave bye bye.

She loves to eat, she is eating 3 meals and nurses 4 times a day.

She is sleeping 11-12 hours a night with two naps a day.

She still has no teeth, but they have got to come at some point, because she has had a few nights waking up fussy and chewing everything still.

She has started dancing ( swaying) to music, i think she has learned this too from kindermusik!

She can pick up some of her toys now and move them to where she wants on the floor, she also knows when we try to hide something behind our backs, she knows it is still there, and she looks to find it, it fun to watch her!

Nine months will be here before we know it!

I think I can, I think I can

Katelyn is trying to crawl. If you watch her expressions they are saying " I think i can, I think i can," but she never goes anywhere. She has scooted backwards a couple of times, but no forward progress yet. I dont think it will be long before she takes off. David and i have started baby proofing the house, but i know there are things she will find that we have never thought of. I also think we will have one unhappy dog when she realizes that Katelyn can go towards her. Summer always lays just out of katelyn's reach, but before long she is going to have to hide higher up!
