3 Weeks Old

Here are some more pictures from this past week. She is getting bigger! I think this is our last week in newborn clothing and she is still a good eater.

Caleb and Katelyn

Maggie and I lived across the street from each other when we were little and first living in Wilson, then we moved away, then back again to Wilson. We have stayed in touch and both got married around the same time to engineers from NC State of course! Then we both announced we were pregnant and due around the same time. Caleb was born on May 5th and Katelyn on May 30th. These are pics from their first play date. As you can tell they really enjoyed Cracker Barrel and slept the whole time during their first date!

More in Wilson

In Wilson Katelyn was also able to meet her cousin Connor for the first time in person. They had seen each other on skype before. Connor did really well with Katelyn, he tried to share his apple and raisins with her. He would give her her pacie when she needed it and put her blanket over her to keep her warm. As you can tell in the first picture, he even gave her a kiss!

Katelyn had a very busy time the few days we were back home. We also stopped by to see Uncle John at his work, so he could meet his niece for the first time. She enjoyed her visit at O'cools! Too bad they dont make T shirts small enough for her to wear!

My First Trip to Wilson/Rocky Mount

Katelyn did great again in the car sleeping 3 hours straight to Wilson and back home to Harrisburg. Thank goodness she is a great rider, because we are in the car alot.

Katelyn was able to meet her great grandparents for the first time on this trip home. She enjoyed meeting everyone and I know they were so excited to meet her. We surprised my dad's parents with our presence at dinner, they did not know we were coming.

The next day we went to Rocky Mount for Katelyn to meet her Shoo Shoo and her great great Aunt Luta. Shoo Shoo is my mom's mom, so we were able to get a 4 generation picture, that is so special to be able to do. Katelyn is one lucky girl to have so many great grandparents that love her dearly.

My First Outing!

This past Saturday,David's good friend and college roommate, Kip, was back in NC from California, so we had a few hours to eat lunch with him and his girlfriend Tara before their flight back. He only comes twice a year, so Katelyn went on her first long car ride and outing to see Kip. She did wonderful! She slept the whole way there, through all of lunch, and slept all the way home, and i guess we wore her out because she slept really well that night too, it was a hot day though! She was a trooper!

It was so good to see Kip and meet Tara and just catch up! We cant wait til Christmas, when Kip returns!

Two Weeks Old

Katelyn was two weeks old as of 7:23pm yesterday!

This past week we had David's mom and grandmother here with us at the beginning of the week, then a couple of days my dad, while my mom kept Connor back at home. Then the end of the week, David, Katelyn, and I were on our own. So far so good, there were times when it would have been great again to have someone at 5 in the morning to pass her off to, but we survived and actually last night she slept again in 4 hour increments! yeah!

Katelyn has also started her skyping experience with her cousin Connor, I cant wait til they get a little bit older and can communicate with each other. Connor is not quite sure what to think of Katelyn, since he has only seen her on the computer screen so far, plus the fact that Grandpa was here and not with him.

Katelyn is still in newborn clothes, but not for much longer, maybe a few more days. We have upgraded to size one diapers, mainly because we used up the newborn and i wasn't going to go buy more of those. She has definitely grown, i would think she is back to her birth weight at least by now, which she should be. She stays awake a good portion of the morning and enjoys her swing and gym set, then sleeps a good portion of the afternoon, which is nice for me to get a nap as well.

Here are a bunch of pictures from this past week!

One Week Old

Hard to believe a week has already gone by! Katelyn truely has been a joy and a blessing to us and we look forward to watching her grow up. She is now sleeping in 3 hour increments at night, but after feeding goes right back to sleep, which is great for me, because amazingly i am able to go right back to sleep as well! During the day she is having more awake time during the morning and enjoys her bouncy chair or simply being propped up and watching everyone like she is a big girl!

Summer has been great with her, though she still gets a little startled when Katelyn starts to cry, but she gives her kisses to try to get her to stop. We are going to attempt our first walk today with Katelyn in stroller and Summer at side with David. Summer has been nervous with the stroller already in the house, so we will see how this goes.

David has been home all week with us, which has been wonderful, but come Monday Daddy has to head back to work, but thankfully between my parents and Lyn we still have help for one another week and give me one more week to rest up and get comfortable with just me and Katelyn.

Here are some more pics from the past week!

First Doctor Visit

Today was Katelyn's first outing from home to see the doctor for her check up. Of course she is perfect! Her weight is still the same 8lbs 3oz as when she left to come home from the hospital and her length is still the same at 20 1/2 inches, this is all normal, especially for a breatfed baby. She is in the 75th percentile for her length and weight, so we are off to a great start and do not have to return for a month! Katelyn did really well on her first outing and slept through her car rides.

At Home with Katelyn

Being home has been wonderful, even though we are not getting too much sleep at night, but we knew that was to be expected. Katelyn still has a wonderful, pleasant personality. During her wake times, her big eyes are exploring her new world and trying to figure us all out. She also knows her mommy's and daddy's voices very well. When either of us speak her head turns quickly towards our direction. She also is a very good eater, which has been a wonderful thing, because i was afraid this would be a struggle to keep her awake to eat, but this has not been a problem at all. We go back to the pediatrician tomorrow to see what her weight is. When we left the hospital she was down to 8lbs 3 oz.

At night, we are trying to get her used to sleeping in the pack n play beside our bed, but at times either Grandpa or Ama are taking shifts holding her, so mom and dad can get some sleep. Hopefully soon, she will sleep more than an hour at a time in her pack n play, because we wont have help for forever!

Here are some pics from around the house below. We have had her sunbathing already to make sure she doesnt get jaundice and it appears to be working, because her coloring has stayed the same!

Welcome Katelyn!

Dont exactly know where to even start, but to say delivery is way easier for me then pregnancy!!! I was only in labor 9 hours and only pushed for 40 minutes, even with an 8lb 11oz baby! She is a precious joy to have, has a wonderful disposition, breastfeeds like a champ, and rarely cries.

We have just gotten home this afternoon and it was such a wonderful experience to have her at the place where i work, because everyone took great care of us and it was so calming already knowing everyone and already having that trust and relationship there. Thanks to all!!

I will update more and add more pics later, but here are a few!
