Snow Day!

We stayed Christmas night in Wilson with my parents and all this talk about snow on Christmas Day didnt happen, but the day after oh wow, 13 inches we measured in my parents back yard! By the end of the day it was up to my knees walking through all the snow. It was beautiful to look out and great snow to play in. That morning we got out around 10 and had Katelyn all bundled up. She was that excited about being all bundled, much less being cold. Her favorite thing was to be inside, where she was warm and not as bundled, and have Ahmpa and Dadda throw snow balls at the window at her. She thought that was hilarious! That is my smart girl, let them stay out in the cold and she stay inside where she is warm and dry!!!

Here come the doggies, they loved it!

That afternoon we headed over to my best friend from high school parents house, because they live in our neighborhood to build a snowman with Mary Kathryn and her husband and son. I will post pics of that soon! I have to download them first.

Christmas 2010 ( part 5 )

Our last adventure on Christmas Day has always been my dad's side of the family. We are so fortunate to have both my grandparents still with us and they still make the best carrot cake!!! Because there are getting to be so many little ones, we just do presents to the kids and great grandparents and that gets kinda crazy for a little while with wrapping paper being thrown all over the place and trying to figure out who gave who what, but it is fun.

This is now the end of our wonderful Christmas, we didnt get a white Christmas, but we got a really really white Day after Christmas and those posts are coming up next!

Christmas 2010 ( part 4 )

Dont worry I havent forgotten the rest of our Christmas! If you haven't started reading this before, you may want to scroll down and work your way back up to go in order!

We always have a full Christmas day, which is great that we have so much family! It does get hectic at times, but we make it a point to see all our family, because they all are so important to us and we want our kids to know each one of them.

After the fun of Santa and Gigi's presents, we had lunch and presents with David's dad's side of the family. It is still hard each year not having Grady join us because he loved Christmas and he made a wonderful Santa Claus, but we celebrate Christmas with his brothers and their kids.

After all the present opening, Katelyn crashed for a little while, she didnt take that great of a nap. I am sure she was way too excited, but she was kinda of groggy when she got up, but she rests up with Gigi again before we head to Part 5 of Christmas!

Merry Christmas 2010 ( part 3)

I hope you aren't getting tired yet of Christmas blogs because there are more to come!

After Christmas Eve lunch with my parents. We headed to Rocky Mount to David's mom to spend Christmas Eve with her and his brother and girlfriend. Christmas Day, Katelyn decided to wake up at 630, but it worked out well because Heather and Wes had to get to Heather's family by 1030 and we had to see what Santa brought and open presents with Lyn before this.

This year again I didn't want to go overboard with Santa gifts because one, she didn't ask for anything and two, i already new she would get more than enough from everyone else, which is great! So she had a few gifts laid out, but i think her favorites were her tricycle and her mickey mouse stuffed animal! She came running in and the first thing she saw was mickey mouse and picked him up and then she noticed he still a plastic hook on his head from hanging from a rack, so she ran him over to the Christmas tree to hang him up! She thought he was an ornament, it was way cute! She then wanted to ride her tricycle and she actually did really well riding it and pushing the pedals, i was impressed! Thanks Heather and Wes for helping open up packaging on the toys and taking pics! Thanks also to Gigi for the tricycle, what a hit!
Mickey Mouse!

Hanging Mickey on the tree!

Ran back, oh boy,a tricycle!

I am a big girl!

Need a break, so resting with Gigi!

Blocks!

What else is in my stocking?

David's grandmother is expecting her 13 and 14th great grandchild in the next couple of months, so all the grandkids got together and bought silhouette charms of their children with their names and birth dates on them for her and her kids bought her the bracelet! It was a great idea and of course she loved it! The other surprise was that one of her daughters had the bracelet that she had given her mother many years ago with her kids silhouettes on it, so now she has two bracelets, one with great grandkids and one with her kids on it!

We did all this and it isnt even lunch yet! More to come!!!

Merry Christmas 2010 ( part 2)

Christmas Eve was our day for a " shoo shoo" like meal and celebrate Christmas with my parents. This is the first Christmas without my grandmother, who we called shoo shoo, and she made the best turkey, dressing and gravy! Mom and dad did a very good job this year of making it very close to shoosh's, but it still was not the same without her and her laugh!

After a great meal we then went to the present opening and Connor loves to open presents, Katelyn had just woken up for her nap, so it took her awhile to get into, but she did. It was great afternoon of family time and great presents. Thanks everybody!

Merry Christmas 2010 ( part 1)

Last night, Dec 22nd, David, Katelyn, Summer and I had our small Christmas at home before we headed east for Christmas. Katelyn is really getting into unwrapping presents, over the next few days she should be a pro at it! She first helped summer open up her presents and Summer was very patient with her while waiting for her treats!

Katelyn then dug into her own presents and after she opened each one, she wanted David then to get it out of its packaging and she would play with it until I showed her another present, then it was back to unwrapping!

Look how pretty it is as she hangs it on the tree.

We had a great family time and it was so much fun with Katelyn this year and i know each year will only get better! The next few days are going to be packed with more presents and family times! Merry Christmas everyone!

Meeting Santa

Once again I put it off and put it off taking Katelyn to see Santa until the last minute. Last year it just never happened, this year we would pass him at the mall and the line would be long and she would just wave at him from a distance. We talked about Santa some and tried to prepare her, so at Bass Pro Shops they were doing free photos with santa, so Katelyn and I headed up there yesterday. They were doing fast passes, which meant you would go get a pass and come back at the time it said and you would be first in line, of course during the week they werent doing this, only on the weekends, so when we got there at 11, there was a 45 minute wait. She wasnt going to make it that long, so we went home ate lunch and she took a good nap, so then we headed back out to Bass Pro Shops around 3 and there was only a 15 minute line! I was getting her all prepared and she was excited to get a sucker and she watched all the other kids go up to him.

Then it was her turn, she walked up until she got about a foot from him and stopped. I tried to pick her up and put her in his lap but that didnt happen. Tears come flooding down, so Santa said just hold her and you sit, so that is what we did. I still didnt think we would get a good picture, but it turned out pretty good, despite the tears! Sometimes i do wonder, as parents, why we torture our kids like this, but oh well! We got a picture and wont see Santa again til next year and maybe then she will be excited to see Santa and sit on his lap!

I still prefer her to know the true meaning of Christmas foremost! So she has nativity sets and loves playing with those and she can point out baby Jesus and Mary.
Hope everyone remembers that " Jesus is the reason for the Season"!!!!
