To celebrate mom's birthday, she wanted to go out to the farm in Scotland Neck, which is where her family is from and we still have land there. It is mostly fields of cotton this year and they were harvesting it while we were there. I think mom had a great birthday with all her kids and grandkids there! The grandkids had a blast running around the fields and riding on a cotton combine!

The big cotton combine! Connor was up first!
Daddy and Katelyn near a cotton barrell. It was really neat watching the machine make these and wrap it all up!
This is what mom found in the fields! Bear tracks! Yikes!
Katelyn, Haley, and Daddy's turn to ride!

Fun pics in the cotton fields!
We had so much fun and it was beautiful weather! The other interesting thing was that the cotton combine stirred up all the lady bugs in the fields and they were everywhere!!! At any moment you would be covered in lady bugs of all sizes and colors! The kids got to learn and see all kinds of neat things especially picking the cotton. Boy how things have changed though from picking cotton in the olden days. Rob, the man that farms the land, said it would take him almost all day to harvest the 70 acres that was in the field and they have many more fields to do as well! So thanks to him for letting the kids each get a turn riding in the cotton combine, i think he loved the company too. It has to be boring all day riding in that thing by yourself!
