New House and Picking Strawberries!

The Friday before Mother's Day, David and I put an offer on a house and it was accepted. To most people's surprise and actually our own surprise, we found a house between Rocky Mount and Wilson ( our hometowns). We have been looking in the Raleigh area ( mostly Apex, Cary and Holly Springs), but we couldnt find anything that we felt would be our home. After several disappointing trips, we decided hey lets look near the reservoir of Tar River near RM and Wilson to just see if there is anything in our price range and what we would want in a house. Amazingly after two trips, the first house we looked at near the reservoir was what we both kept talking about, so we decided to put in an offer and it was accepted!

Now the next big thing was to tell our moms. My dad knew about the house because we wanted his expertise of real estate and simply being a great handy man with things, but our moms did not, because we didnt want to get their hopes up if couldnt find anything. So as an early Mother's Day present, we saw there was a strawberry patch near the house and we asked my parents, David's mom, David's brother and his girlfriend to join us on Saturday! We also got great Ama to join us as well. So everyone headed out to pick strawberries and we had a blast, especially Katelyn. I wasnt sure if she was even going to like it, but she loved it and was very good at picking the red ones. She was pointing them out to everyone.

Then after the wonderful strawberry picking, we told everyone to follow us, we had something to show them. Across the street from our new house are friends of David's and Wes, so we had called him ahead of time to ask if we could park in his driveway to show the family, he was totally excited for us to be moving across the street, he gladly agreed. So we pulled in his driveway and the fam still didnt know what was going on, some of them thought we bought the empty lot beside our new neighbor's, but we quickly told them no, that the one for sale across the street was ours! They were all quite surprised and excited because now we will be so close to both set of grandparents and my brother, John, and David's brother Wes! So lots of fun to come!
